Case Competition
Information
Showcase your skills in our Case Competition – a chance to demonstrate your knowledge and business acumen to top companies! Open to all students attending the Symposium, this free, optional competition lets you work in teams of 3-5 to solve a real-world case. Present your solutions on Saturday, March 7th, 2024, and compete for recognition. No team? No problem – we’ll match you with one! The case will be released mid February.
Schedule of Events
Friday, February 13th
Individual registrants are placed on teams, the case is officially released, and teams begin working on the case
Friday 13th to March 6th
Teams complete case competition and submit their recommendation presentation
Saturday, March 7th
(10:00 am - 4:15 pm): Teams present (15 minutes) to the competition panel and are evaluated
(5:00 pm): Awards Presentation

Event Planning and Logistics Coordinator
Nathan Kujawa (He/They)
Junior - Graduating May 2026
Majors: Actuarial Science, Accounting
Minor: N/A
Nathan has been interning at Athene throughout his junior year at Drake University, studying Actuarial Science & Accounting. He also has previous experience working on consulting with companies through his experiences in the Drake Insurance Innovation lab, He has passed Exams FM, P, and SRM, and is currently studying for FAM. He has experience working with R and SAS, and built our new project dashboards over his summer at Athene using SQL and Tableau.

Creative and Digital Content Specialist
Samuel Sheedy (He/Him)
Junior - Graduating May 2026
Major - Actuarial Science
Minors: Data Analytics, RMI
Sam is a current Co-President of the Chi Chapter. He has passed Exams P and FM and gained experience through internships with Lincoln Financial Group and Elixir Insurance Group. Sam has experience working in Python and Excel VBA, and he will be joining Milliman’s Milwaukee Casualty Practice as an actuarial intern this summer. Sam also has international experience from studying abroad in Spain, broadening his communication skills, leadership, and professional development

Event Communications and Outreach Manager
Ethan Woodman (He/Him)
Junior - Graduating May 2026
Major - Actuarial Science
Minor: Artificial Intelligence
Ethan Woodman has technical experience in Microsoft products like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as coding experience in Python, Java, R, and SAS. Ethan has passed exam FM and is taking classes covering topics in PA and FAM. During the Spring 2024 semester, Ethan went abroad to study at the University of Seville in Seville Spain, where he greatly broadened his intellectual and interpersonal skills. Ethan looks forward to discovering formative interactions between AI and Actuarial Science.
